Yes, frogs. No, haha, I'm not that short-sighted. Yes, it's really
f-r-o-g-s.
Apparently, some wind currents pick up fertilised frog eggs lying in a shallow river or lake and carry them for some distance. The eggs hatch into tadpoles while airborne, and when the wind finally ceases, people see a shower of baby frogs (or tadpoles) tumbling from the sky.
Other kinds of animal showers have also occurred-Padeborn, Germany saw a
snail shower in August 1892 and Bucharest, Romania was hit by thousands of
black worms in 1972.
Interestinggg. But I kind of have to agree that saying it rained "snails, worms and frogs" is a handful compared to "cats and dogs". Snails, worms and frogs don't make a lot of noise, but cats and dogs do...
and that, apparently, is the whole point.
