These two lovely roses are a direct clue to tomorrow's (or Saturday's to be precise) significance.
Not to mention the fact that a few of us students stayed back in school till dark, lounging together in the room and painstakingly decorating a whole cartload of red, red roses. We wrapped them in plastic, tied them up with red silky ribbons and stapled sweet hand-written notes from giver to receiver on each flower.
The total count was around 600. I think.
What an interesting, odd way to spend a Thursday evening. And doing this particular job makes a person think about thoughts way-off-the-railway-track-and-straight-into-the-jungle...
Like wondering, for example, if there are such things as black roses, and exactly how fast we took to decorate a single flower and precisely how ravenous we could get by ordering MacDonalds and using up all our spare energy waiting for food to come while still preparing roses. Plus the fact that most of these roses, once given, would wilt and shrivel up in a few days time.
Ain't that simply ironic?
But 'tis all in the good spirit of classic, happy romance and love, and who are we to deny the joy of that?
A Happy (Early) Valentine's Day to you, my dear blogspot, and to everyone else in the universe who welcomes love with open arms.
